"Invisible" Tower Infinity In South Korea Will Disappear At The Flick Of A Switch...And Be Built Right Next To Seoul Airport. Hmmm.

South Korea will have an "invisible" tower that disappears at the flick of a switch....and it will be built right next to the airport.

Presumably, pilots will be able to see the skyscraper.

The world's first "invisible" tower, Tower Infinity, has been approved for construction by the South Korean government.

Sure, architects around the world are cranking out taller and taller buildings, but this idea is actually innovative.

The "invisible" tower will have a LED façade system that uses a series of cameras to create an invisibility illusion on the building's surface.

The glass-encased building will have a constantly shifting façade of real-time images projected on the reflective sides.

Tower Infinity will even have a feature in which the level of power used will be able to be altered, giving the building different levels of invisibility.

Cameras will be placed at three heights on six sides of the building, capturing images of the surroundings, and three other sections, each filled with 500 rows of LED screens, will project the digital images. The images will be scaled, rotated and merged, thus forming a seamless panoramic image that creates an illusion of invisibility.

Tower Infinity will be 450 meters (1,476 feet) high and have the third highest observation deck in the world. It was designed by U.S.-based GDS Architects; the project is backed by Korea Land & Housing Corporation, a state-owned land and public housing developer. It will be the sixth tallest tower in the world.

"Instead of symbolizing prominence as another of the world's tallest and best towers, our solution aims to provide the world's first invisible tower, showcasing innovative Korean technology while encouraging a more global narrative in the process," said Charles Wee, GDS design principal, in a statement.

Inside, Tower Infinity will have a  series of observation decks, a movie theater, water park, roller coaster, and numerous restaraunts.

The "invisible" tower will be built just outside of Seoul, near the Incheon International Airport.
