X-Men Days of Future Past Plot: Wolverine Death Is A Good Thing, New Generation Of Mutants To Emerge

"X-Men Days Of Future Past" is meant to usher in a new generation of mutants. This is why it was a necessary step for Wolverine to die.

After Hugh Jackman  has hinted of his demise. After 13 years of playing donning the Adamantium claws, Jackman feels it's time to pass the baton. He has talked about the physical demands of the role. His workouts that were specific for the Wolverine role were posted on social media.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, the Aussie actor says,"I'm a little embarrassed about that," (about the photo where he was lifting 460 pounds) "That was a moment... [of] just showing off, completely showing off. ... I'm about to turn 45, I will never do this again and I want to document it."

The possible death of Wolverine is a good thing, as it will pave the way for new mutants. There's also the possibility of recasting-while Hugh Jackman ages, Wolverine doesn't.

If this is the last hurrah for characters from the original trilogy, it is not the same for the movie franchise. The plotline for "Days of Future Past" includes a new mutant search device (called "Cerebro" in the orginal trilogy) which will yield new mutants.

However, unlike Cerebro, the tracking device is an invention of nemesis Bolivar Trask, and is used to hunt down mutants. The X-Men continues the search for mutants, but to rescue them. Both groups try to reach the mutants first, and this offers an exciting premise.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is set for release on May 23, 2014.
