Burger King Low-Fat French Fries Introduced: 40% Less Fat, 30% Fewer Calories Than Rival-McDonald's Fries

Burger King low-fat French fries are being introduced to customers around the world for the fast food chain to appeal to the health-conscious consumers.

The second-largest burger chain made the announcement Tuesday that these low-fat French fries known as "Satisfries," will be at Burger King everywhere. It is the restaurant's response to rivaled food-chain McDonald's.

Burger King Worldwide Inc. told the Los Angeles Times that the new fries have 40% less fat and 30% fewer calories than McDonald's fries. The usual ingredients to make these low-fat French fries are used, but a more porous batter is used that keeps out more oil during cooking.

"One out of every two Burger King guests orders our classic French fries and we know our guests are hungry for options that are better for them, but don't want to compromise on taste," Alex Macedo, North America president for Burger King told the L.A. Times.

On Tuesday, Burger King shares were up 5 cents, or 0.25%, trading at $19.85, following the announcement.

The low-fat French fries aren't the only newbie introduced to Burger King recently. The French fry burger debuted on the menu a short time ago. It is how it sounds and fries are put in the middle of the buns for burgers, bringing together two different worlds.
