The current 'The Simpsons' season (25th) will definitely not be their last, but it will be the last for one regular character. Fanatics of the show put their Sherlock hats on to find out who.
The investigation hinges on one clue: Executive producer Al Jean's statement to The Hollywood Reporter. This statement reads: "We are doing this story for the same reason we do all others -- we think it has a good emotional through line," Jean told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, keeping under wraps whether the character would be killed off or pass away. "The story will be produced this year though it may air in season 26. I'll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won't say who it is."
Since actors on the show voice-over multiple characters, the list is much longer than we thought.
The Telegraph lists the Emmy Winners: Nancy Cartwright (1992), Dan Castellaneta (1992, 1993, 2004, 2009), Julie Kavner (1992), Jackie Mason (1992), Yeardley Smith (1992), Marcia Wallace (1992), Hank Azaria (1998, 2001, 2003), Kelsey Grammar (2006) and Anne Hathaway (2010).
The character is described as 'recurring' and this eliminates Anne Hathaway's Princess Penelope.
