‘Masters Of Sex’ Lizzy Caplan Has Sex Attached To Heart Machine; Her Dad Will Never Watch Her Sexy TV Series

Lizzy Caplan is the star of the new series from Showtime, "Masters Of Sex." She is part of a team of scientists that were the first to conduct human sexuality experiments.

She has to do some uncomfortable sex scenes. In one scene, she and co-star Michael Sheen were attached to a machine that measured heart rates during sex.

She talks about that awkward moment: "Michael and I observed so many actors doing it before we had to do it ourselves," reveals Caplan (in The Inderpendent). "Our hats were off! You're surrounded by amazing crew and trained professionals, but you need to get past that discomfort. We couldn't even cover up between takes because of the fucking wires, and then you start to sweat, and all thef wires would fall off. You get used to enjoying small talk while completely naked."

"My dad hasn't seen it, nor do I think he will. I tried to get them to do a 'family edit', cutting out the stuff that my father wouldn't want to see, but they said it was too hard."

On her relationship with co-star Michael Sheen: "Michael Sheen. The man. The legend. He must be really popular in England, right? It really could have gone in a number of terrible directions, but we became very close, very quickly. He was intimidating at first, but now there's lots of picking on one another, and we hold each other up. The schedule is brutal, so you spend a lot of time together. I like hanging out with Michael."

On having sex scenes with Michael Sheen: "He's a tender lover when he's got wires attached to his chest, but I can't speak for when he's truly unleashed! You know, I've done sex scenes before. But never under fluorescent lighting, and all these electrodes? It makes you long for the days of low-lighting and a bed. Instead, I'll just tell my dad the episodes he can watch. I can even give him the time stamps of the stuff that's OK. We'll figure it out. Have you got any almond milk?"
