Top Ten Movies Of The Year - Quentin Tarantino Picks Include "Kick-Ass 2" "Gravity" and "The Lone Ranger": No "Pacific Rim"

Director Quentin Tarantino's Opinions and Preferences carry a lot of weight for some people. Fans of the man himself should know, he's predictably unpredictable.

The Quentin Tarantino Archives has released this list. It's in alphabetical order, so don't get excited.

Afternoon Delight (Jill Soloway)
Before Midnight (Richard Linklater)
Blue Jasmine (Woody Allen)
The Conjuring (James Wan)
Drinking Buddies (Joe Swanberg)
Frances Ha (Noah Baumbach)
Gravity (Alfonso Cuarón)
Kick Ass 2 (Jeff Wadlow)
The Lone Ranger (Gore Verbinski)
This Is The End (Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg)

Second guessing Quentin Tarantino is a losing proposition. Most reactions are surprise over "The Lone Ranger" which most critics have dismissed. Most fans also ponder the absence of "Pacific Rim" by Guillermo Del Toro.

The year isn't over yet, more movies will be released including "Machete Kills" by Tarantino's pal Robert Rodriguez. Other prospects, like possible Oscar nominees could still tip the list like the Christian Bale starrer "Out of the Furnace." It's clearly up Tarantino's alley.

As per the Inquisitr.com, "The Lone Ranger" is still locked in a struggle: As of this writing, The Lone Ranger still hasn't cracked $100 million in the United States. The picture's foreign figures are a little stronger; the movie earned $155 million overseas during its theatrical run. It could be a while before the adaptation breaks even.

The movie was definitely a dark and violent experience, one that included a bit of commentary on how the Old West was truly won. Johnny Depp firmly believes that critics had in out for the movie long before it debuted on the big screen over the summer."

Another surprise is "Before Midnight." While it is a beautiful film and even generated Oscar buzz, it lacks the humor and action that most fans believe Tarantino might require. Perhaps there's a gentler side to the director.

Let's see how the list looks like once the year is over. Which movies will survive?
