Miley Cyrus: Hannah Montana Is Dead; Quits Acting; Bangerz Album Frees Her to Be a New Artist

Miley Cyrus quit acting to focus on music for the rest of her life.

On Saturday Night Live this week, Miley Cyrus joked that Hannah Montana, the character she played on the Disney Channel, died. Miley Cyrus’ joke was actually revelatory. The former child star said she is givig up her acting career.

In the long version of the Miley Cyrus documentary from MTV, “Miley: The Movement,” Miley Cyrus spilled that has no interest in acting on TV or in movies anymore. The “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop” singer said, "I thought after my show I was gonna act. I did one movie and I came back and said, 'I'm never doing that again. I'm going to do music for the rest of my life.'"

“Miley: The Movement” aired on MTV on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Miley Cyrus mad the movie “So Undercover” with Jeremy Piven, Kelly Osbourne and Josh Bowman. The film was supposed to have a theatrical run starting in October 2011, but instead was released as a direct-to-video DVD on Feb. 5, 2013. The movie pulled in over $2.1 million at the box office in overseas markets. Miley Cyrus also acted in “The Last Song” and “Bolt."

Miley Cyrus’ new album “Bangerz” has freed the singer to reinvent her public persona. In the MTV documentary she said "I'm starting as a new artist. That's how I think of it."

Miley Cyrus is reclaiming her art and independence "My whole life it was never about having control. S--t would just come out with my face on it, and that was it. So now nothing can have my face on it, my name on it, that isn't dope—that isn't a part of the movement."

Miley Cyrus, hot on the heels of the breakup with Liam Helmsworth, has been spending all her time promoting “Bangerz.” She said I'm gonna sleep when I'm dead, ‘cause right now, this isn't the time to be worried about how many hours of sleep you can get or how much you can hang out."
