‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Five New Characters Coming To Mystic Falls Cast; What Do They Mean For Stefan, Elena, Damon, Bonnie?

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5 premiere aired last week, and according to new spoilers, five new characters are coming to Mystic Falls and joining our favorite cast members for "The Vampire Diaries" season 5. What do the new characters mean for Stefan, Elena, Damon, Bonnie?

According to Project Casting, the CW just released three extra casting calls for a Season 5 episode of "The Vampire Diaries," Wetpaint reports.

The five new characters that will join the cast include a pair of scientists, two parents, and a housekeeper, the website reports.

Will the parents belong to Elena? Spoiler alert: in the season 5 premiere, we learned that her now-dead roommate Megan was photographed with Elena's father, who was believed to have died in a car accident.

According to Wetpaint, the casting notice also calls for two scientists - one male and one female - in their mid-30s to early 40s. It's possible this role will have something to do with Elena and Caroline's experience at Whitmore College. Season 5 of "The Vampire Diaries" will introduce a new character: Dr. Wes Maxfield. Dr. Maxfield is Caroline and Elena's brilliant young microbiology professor who "might have something to hide," Wetpaint reports.

Another casting notice released by the CW call for two white parents, preferably with light to dark brown hair in their mid-30s to early 40s. Both the parents and the scientists have to be available for an upcoming photoshoot, so Wetpaint speculates they may be involved in the same storyline for "The Vampire Diaries."

Finally, the casting call is looking for a black female, with an age range in the 30-50s, to play a housekeeper. Wetpaint suggests this role could be for a flashback scene. Or perhaps it has something to do with Bonnie and her ancestors.

Episode 2 of season 5 of "The Vampire Diaries" airs this Thursday on the CW.
