Miss Universe Olivia Culpo To Be Imprisoned For Disrespectful Taj Mahal Photo Shoot? Beauty Queen Says She Finds The Shoot Inappropriate From The Start

Reigning Miss Universe Olivia Culpo is currently facing a police complaint filed by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for her unauthorized and inappropriate photo shoot at the Taj Mahal.

During her 10-day stay in India, the 21-year-old Rhode Islander visited Taj Mahal to model several pairs of shoes at the marble ledge tagged as the "Diana Ledge". Placing the shoes on the Diana Seat was reportedly regarded as an offensive act by the citizens. Furthermore, Culpo's team did not ask for permission to use the Taj Mahal as a background.

"There are strict guidelines against any sort of branding and promotion at Taj Mahal and the photoshoot was without any prior permission," said one of ASI's representatives. If found guilty, Culpo's team can be jailed for up to ten years. They can similarly be fined 100,000 rupees ($1,600).

The girlfriend of Nick Jonas explains in the Providence Journal that she never really liked the photo shoot at the first place: "I mean, I'm an employee of the Miss Universe organization and following directions given to me. I guess their vision was, 'What's better to identify India than the Taj Mahal?' But unfortunately it's something that was highly offensive. Honestly, I did say out loud at one point, 'Isn't this a little inappropriate? It's upsetting to me that I was a part of that. It's really upsetting because I loved my visit to India, and I would love nothing more than to go back, even in the near future."

Miss Universe Organization has likewise released a statement assuring that they did not mean to disrespect Taj Mahal.
