2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees: Kiss, Nirvana, Hall and Oates Are Among The 16 Nominees

2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees are in! This is the event's second consecutive year allowing the fans to vote alongside the artists, historians and music industry insiders of the Rock Hall voting body.

Starting October 16 until the 10th of December at 2 p.m. Pacific time, the public can vote on RollingStone.com, Rock Hall's official website and USA Today's site for the nominees they'd like to see inducted. The top five vote-getters will comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the more than 600 ballots that determine the Class of 2014.

The "Kiss Army" is most certainly rejoicing again as the rock and roll band Kiss gets to be nominated in the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Impressively, the band that kicked of the grunge era in the 90's, Nirvana lead by Kurt Cobain is also amongst the nominees. They are the only act this year to land on the ballot for its first year of eligibility. If they get to be selected, they will be included in the hall of fame almost exactly 20 years after their frontman, Kurt Cobain's suicide at age 27.

In order to be eligible for this year's ballot, artists or bands need to have released their first single or album in 1988 or earlier. First time nominees together with Nirvana includes, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, the Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Link Wray, Cat Stevens, Yes and the Zombies.

Also included in this year's hopefuls are Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, Deep Purple, LL Cool J, N.W.A, the Meters.

Will the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame get to be sealed with a - KISS?

The announcement of inductees will happen in December. The official ceremony is due on April at New York City, while the highlights of the event will be telecast on HBO in May.
