Watch Dogs Release Date Pushed Back Until Spring 2014; Ubisoft Expecting To Sell Around 6 Million Units When The Game Arrives

Watch Dogs release date is not anymore set for November 2013 but instead, it is now slated to arrive next year.

Unfortunately for the ardent fans of the game, Watch Dogs release date has been delayed from a supposed arrival later this year to Spring 2014. Ubisoft announced the news about Watch Dogs release date via its official blog which partially reads:

"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we've made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014."

This news about Watch Dogs release date being pushed back may cause frustration and disappointment for some, but as Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot said, the additional time for the game development will let the upcoming title to reach even larger audience.

Talking about Watch Dogs during a conference call, Guillemot shared, "In fact, we playtested the game until the last minute. With the most relevant information in hand, the decision was the most relevant to take. What we saw in the playtests is that we were very close to the quality we wanted, but not exactly at the level."

He further said, "We thought that with more time we could give it a far bigger potential. So we think the best way to take care of this brand is to make sure it has everything it can be supplied to the customers that are expecting it."

Accordingly, Ubisoft is expecting to sell estimately 6 million units of Watch Dogs once it becomes available in Spring 2014.

After Ubisoft's announcement regarding the delayed Watch Dogs release date for quality reasons, as well as the late arrival of another game titled, The Crew, the French game developer's shares "fell more than 26 percent," as reported on NY Times.
