Roy Kim is Back (Sort of) with ‘Reply 1994’ First OST Release

Singer Roy Kim released the OST "Seoul, Here" just in time for the pilot episode of tvN's new drama "Reply 1994,"an instant hit with the viewers. The version that aired was the acoustic version, but Roy Kim also recorded a modern rock version of the song as well. Both versions were released.

"Seoul, Here" is a song that explains the general plot line of "Reply 1994" over a catchy and melodic progression. "Reply 1994" is about a few students who have come to the big city, Seoul, from the country to attend the universities in and near Seoul. The original song was a country tune sung by Jang Chul Ung, but Roy Kim was able to refresh the song to appeal to modern viewers.

Lee Sang Hoon, who arranged the music for Roy Kim, said, "In order to compose a whole new arrangement for the modernized version of the song, we had a band play many different iterations of the song. The two that were the best was recorded and Roy's vocals were laid over the track. We expect both version to be very popular with music lovers and fans of "Reply 1994" alike."

The two versions of "Seoul, Here" were released on the internet chart MelOn and other internet charts on October 18th, the same day that the first episode of "Reply 1994" aired.
