Jim Parsons And Todd Spiewak: First Public Appearance As A Couple At 2013 GLSEN Respect Awards

2013 GLSEN Respect Awards was held at Beverly Hills Hotel on Friday (October 18) in Beverly Hills, Calif., where Jim Parson and Todd Spiewak arrived for their first public appearance as a couple.

GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) is a leader in national education organizations which aims to ensure that LGBT students are able to get just education wherein they can learn and grow in a school environment free from bullying and other forms of harassment.

Jim Parsons (aka Sheldon Cooper) from his hit comedy series “Big Bang Theory,” and his partner of 10 years Todd Spiewak, went to the event to accept an Inspiration award form GLSEN.

The “Big Bang Theory” actor gladly talked about his relationship with longtime partner Todd and their take on the said award.

According to Us Weekly during an interview with Parsons, "It was surprising to hear that we were getting an inspiration award. We feel very average, we feel very normal."

"We really do. The strange stuff is the Hollywood stuff we have to walk through, not the gay stuff we have to walk through," the “Big Bang Theory” star added.

Parsons was in awe of the Inspiration award they received from the organization. "It's very moving. It's very surprising and I think once we got over the shock of it, we were able to feel the honor of it," the star explained.

"If we're inspiring at all, it's that we're a very average normal just moving right along with our lives kind of people," Parsons added, "That doesn't feel like you could possibly be inspirational when you're going through those day-to-day motions, but I get it."
"I've never considered myself an activist. I've never considered my relationship with Todd to be an act of activism," he said of his relationship. "Rather simply, it's an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, washing the clothes, taking the dogs [out]—a regular life, boring love," Parson said on stage.

A month earlier, the “Big Bang Theory” actor made a speech at 2013 Emmys while accepting the Best Actor award in a Comedy Series. "[Thanks] to my favorite person on the planet, Todd Spiewak," he said , while his costars and good friends Mayim Bialik and Kaley Cuoco cried in the crowd.
