NBA Live 14 News: NBA 2K14 Gameplay Not As Good As Competitor? Critic Suggests NBA Live ’14 Gameplay Has ‘Virtues’ Despite Being In Shadows

NBA 2K14 has captured the attention of gamers around the world for its hype reel released last week, but one critic suggests NBA Live '14, its major competitor, has gameplay virtues despite being in the shadows.

"I think NBA Live's video shows more of its natural gameplay than does NBA 2K14, though NBA 2K14 does a better job of showing how this comes together with the series' presentation - which already is damn good - to offer a more immersive experience. But I'm thinking the last clip - Kyrie Irving lobbing an alley-oop to Anthony Bennett - might be a message, too.," Kotaku.com writes.

"This game has a different executive producer and creative director than last year's aborted NBA Live effort, but EA Sports is aware that making some highlight-quality moves contextual is key to greater playability - and its competition just changed up its controls for the third time in as many years. "

NBA Live '14 has selected Orlando Magic rookie Victor Oladipo as one of the six players who helped develop its videogame, OrlandoPinstripedPost.com reports, leaving many wondering if they made the move to bring more attention to the game after NBA 2K14 released its next-generation graphics.

A 2K Sports representative confirmed with GameSpot that the screenshot was captured on the PS4, GameSpot.com reports.

NBA 2K14 will be released on PS4 and Xbox One as a launch title for those platforms next month - the game been "built from the ground up" to leverage the capabilities of the next-generation platforms, 2K Sports said, according to GameSpot.com.

NBA Live 14 has captured the attention of gamers around the world for its new specs and features, but one analyst says it must focus on marketing its in-game footage in order to compete with its rival NBA 2K series.

"I'm a firm believer that competition is good in everything. It pushes all involved to be at their best or to clearly be defined as inferior," BleacherReport.com writes.

"If EA Sports' NBA Live series is going to regain its place as a virtual hardcourt juggernaut, or at least a legitimate threat to the NBA 2K series, the next two-to-three weeks of marketing and exposure are critical."
