GTA 5 PC Release Date News: Free Online 18GB Torrent Infects Thousands Of Gamers Around The World

Thousands of gamers around the world have downloaded a 18GB torrent for a free online version of Grand Theft Auto 5, leaving many with viruses on their computers.

The massive 18GB torrent file (a full download on Xbox 360 is just 7.7 GB) looks like a legitimate file, and even behaves like one at first - it contains a working setup.exe file, and the setup process doesn't arouse any suspicion, the International Business Times reports.

It is even a verified torrent file and has a very high SEO ranking in a search for "GTA V PC Torrent," the International Business Times also reports.

Guru3D forums reveals a post which includes an AMD Catalyst driver which supports "GTA.5exe," leaving many gamers wondering if this signals compatibility with a PC version for Grand Theft Auto 5.

Hewlett-Packard released a short message regarding the PC release date of Grand Theft Auto 5, pointing to an end-of-month release for the version.

"Get ready to own your friends in Grand Theft Auto in October with the HP ENVY Phoenix 810," the company wrote in a public message.

But Rockstar Games will release a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 in the beginning of 2014, multiple rumors have reported, and will include fixes to gameplay loss that gamers have been experiencing.

"This title update will resolve the cause of players losing their gameplay progress except for some specific instances where players purchase a vehicle and the save does not occur due to a cloud save failure," Rockstar Games said in a statement, according to The Guardian.

"A fix for that particular issue is being worked on and we will provide an update as soon as we know when this will be resolved."
