Nokia And Apple Competition Getting Tight – Apple Responds To Windows By Giving OS X Mavericks Free For Download

Nokia and Apple competition getting tight as the two companies revealed new generation products for their audience to enjoy yesterday. Nokia had an event earlier Oct. 22, 2013 which was followed by the Apple event later that day.

The popular phone company who held the Nokia Fall Event in Abu Dhabi revealed two new Lumia phones and three Asha phones followed by a release of a new Windows tablet, the Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet.

The event on Cupertino on the other hand released two new laptops and the new generation of iPads, the iPad Air and the iPad with Retina display.

Nokia after the event boasted their new devices on their official Twitter account and challenged Apple by tweeting "Ok Cupertino, let's see what you got later."

Apple on the other hand answered back by giving away numerous apps including the newest operating system they have to offer, the OS X Mavericks. Other than that, the tech company's document programs were also offered for free.

The company from California pointed out that Microsoft offers their Microsoft Office 365 for $99 a year while they are now giving away their iWork package which contains Pages, Numbers and Keynotes, the Office counterpart, all for free.

"Now you can create a document on an iPad, edit it on a Mac, and even share it with a friend who's stuck on a PC." Craig Federigh, Vice President for Apple Engineering said.

Also, Apple Services Vice President Eddy Cue pointed out that "The days of spending hundreds of dollars to get the most from your computer are gone," referring to the free to download Mavericks while the Windows 8.1 sells their product for $199.

Windows bought Nokia few months back for a reportedly $7.2 billion.
