Game 1 ended with an 8-1 victory on Wednesday for the Red Sox vs the Cardinals. Watch the free live stream online to see if St. Louis can bounce back like they did in the NLDS. In that series with the Pirates, the Cardinals won game 1 with a 9-1 victory. Pittsburgh came back the next day with a 7-1 game 2 victory. The series went to the final possible game.

"We had a wake-up call," said manager Mike Matheny. "This is not the kind of team that we've been all season. And they're frustrated, I'm sure embarrassed to a point. You're going to have games like that periodically. But if you begin to accept that, then this could really not go anywhere."

Lackey was the game-winning pitcher as a rookie in 2002 for the Angeles in game-seven of the World Series. Now, 11 years later, he's back on the hill in this big spot.

"You realize how hard it is to get here," Lackey told the L.A. Times Wednesday. "It's been 11 years since I've been here. I've been chasing it for a while, and you probably appreciate it more this time than you do as a rookie."

When asked by reporters what he has learned and can take from that 2002 World Series start, Lackey said, "Not a whole lot," he said. "That I'm old, I guess."

Carlos Beltran is questionable after suffering an injury while robbing David Ortiz of a grand slam in the second inning.
