NBA Trade Predictions – Rajon Rondo Move Possible With Boston Celtics Horrendous Season [VIDEO]

The Boston Celtics will have a long, horrendous season. The roster is not at all promising, and their best player, Rajon Rondo is injured.

They have a new coach in Brad Stevens. This is the only bright light on their tunnel, and they have to start the journey in darkness this season. The team management has already accepted this fact. A great and storied era has ended and they have to undergo some growing pains for a new one to begin.

The Celtics GM (general manager) Danny Ainge has consistently denied that the team is 'tanking.' Tanking is a strategy employed by rebuilding teams. The key is to lose many games to gain a chance for a high draft pick. The Celtics have tanked before (in 2007 for Tim Duncan) and they have also denied it before. However, in a Sports Illustrated scouts interview, one unnamed rival scout contends, "The Celtics say they don't want to tank, but it might happen just by putting this roster out there. How many more changes will they have throughout the year?"

These changes have brought the once-proud Celtics dynasty to its knees. They traded their main pieces, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, as well as a useful veteran in Jason Terry for a mix-match of players from the Brooklyn Nets. They obviously want to start over.

As for the question of 'how many more changes' it seems that there will be more, including the most important one: trading their best player Rajon Rondo.

In the prediction conversation between Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose in their NBA Preview Video at Grantland, they had this exchange:

Jalen Rose: "Once you trade Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, the year before they lost Ray Allen, and you lose Doc Rivers, the next obvious domino is Rajon Rondo."

Bill Simmons: "If you're going to blow it up, don't leave one room in the blown-up house and be like, 'I'm going to keep the living room.' You blow up the house."

The Celtics strategy with Rondo is to let him rest. Then they will let him play and run the team just to prove that he's recovered and increase his trade value. At that time, the Celtics will get the best returns for Rondo-it's the best time to make the trade.
