‘X-Men Days Of Future Past’ Teaser Trailer [Video] Released – Wolverine In Two Eras, Jennifer Lawrence Shines As Mystique

The first ever sneak peek for the highly anticipated “X-Men: Days of Future Past” has been released.

A 6-second video on the Instagram account “xmenmovies” shows brief images of the X-Men. The short clip was a ‘teaser of a trailer’ or a ‘preview of a sneak preview.’ It was posted hours after the trailer for "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" came out.

Brief as it was, it has already garnered more than 6,000 likes and shared all around the Internet.

The clip shows Wolverine screaming, apparently on his time travel procedure, a convoy (presumably of Senator Kelly) Wolverine with the older Professor X (Patrick Stewart) young Magneto (played by Michael Fassbender), Storm (played by Halle Berry) and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

Mystique has emerged as a central character when she was re-introduced in “X-Men: First Class.” When the “Hunger Games” star donned the skin tight blue body suit, it was taken to another level as it allowed more mobility. The former Mystique, actress/model Rebecca Romjin, wore nothing but body paint and was notoriously uncomfortable.

The production had to make improvements, as Jennifer Lawrence has taken quantum leaps in her career since “First Class” was shown. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal in “Silver Linings Playbook.”

Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is again, the center of this storyline. In the comic books, it was Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat (Ellen Page) who was sent back in time to prevent a dark future from happening. This is just one of the numerous changes that Fox made in the transition from comic books to movies.

While this transition made purists furious, it was necessary for a new cinematic experience and consistent with the character development of the past films. Movies do not have the luxury that comic books have to develop their characters, and placing such a central role on Kitty Pryde when she was just a tween on her last movie appearance (X-Men: The Last Stand) would be foolish.

The full trailer will be released on October 29 and the movie is out on May 23, 2014.
