Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date Rumors: 1st Quarter 2014 Launch Of Next-Gen Smartphone Delayed; Galaxy S4 Reached 40 Million Sales As Of Q3 2013?

Samsung Galaxy S5 release date rumors are still circulating online, with one of them suggesting that the smartphone's arrival early next year may be delayed.

A number of reports claim that Samsung Galaxy S5 release date may be set for as early as the 1st quarter of 2014. Particularly, speculations regarding Samsung Galaxy S5 release date are pointing to a January launch. And if this pushes through, it is possible that Samsung Galaxy S5 release date in the market may be slated for February.

However, despite hearsays about Samsung Galaxy S5 release date happening as soon as Q1 2014, a report from International Business Times is suggesting that its early arrival may be delayed, especially because of the success that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has already achieved in the market.

According to the post, "Samsung's Galaxy S4 has already posted some 40 million of total sales as of Q3 2013, new reports said, likely negating the need for the South Korean tech giant to rush the release date of its predecessor - the Galaxy S5."

Reportedly, this sales milestone was achieved easily six months after the Samsung Galaxy S4 was officially released in the market. Furthermore, reports also said that the data was provided by Samsung CEO JK Shin, though there was no clarity on when the figures were posted and which regions the Galaxy S4 is more successful and popular.

Nevertheless, it seems that the 2013 Samsung flagship smartphone has already surpassed the previous model, the Galaxy S3, which was recognized as South Korea's bestselling handset ever produced. Furthermore, Citing CNET's estimation, the Galaxy S4 was able to achieve its 40-million milestone 2 weeks faster than the S3.

Ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S5 release date, the device is already rumored to come with specs such as 8-core 64-bit processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB basic internal memory, longer battery life and a much better camera - probably with a 16 MP or 21 MP sensor. Furthermore, Samsung Galaxy S5 specs may also include wireless charging capacity and Android 4.4 Kitkat or the latest Google mobile OS announced around its release schedule.
