‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5, Episode 4 Spoilers: Did Bonnie’s Funeral Make Creator Julie Plec Cry?

"The Vampire Diaries" season 5, episode 4 spoiler alert: did Bonnie's funeral during episode 4 of season 5 make "The Vampire Diaries" creator Julie Plec cry?

No one could disagree that last night's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" was one of the saddest of season 5. Spoiler alert: Jeremy finally admits to Damon that Bonnie died when he came back to life.

"Magic finds a balance. I'm not supposed to be here," Jeremy says to Damon tearfully, The Huffington Post reports.

Damon then has the difficult task of telling Elena that her best friend is not actually travelling, but is actually on the other side, and that only Jeremy can communicate and see her.

Our favorite group then gathers for Bonnie's funeral, and puts various mementos on a tree stump in honor of her life: a pompom, a whistle, feathers, a spellbook, The Huffington Post reports.

Caroline, Elena, and Matt are all a mess, and the scene is definitely a tear-jerker.

Bonnie speaks to the group through Jeremy, and Tyler shows up at the last moment to comfort his sobbing girlfriend, The Huffington Post reports.

Earlier on Thursday, creator Julie Plec wrote on Twitter how she feels about episode 4 of season 5, which is called "For Whom the Bell Tolls."

"Very excited about tonight's Vampire Diaries. I may have cried a little. OK, a lot. But there were happy tears too, I swear!" Plec tweeted, Wetpaint reports.

Also, "Originals" writer Carina Mackenzie echoed her sentiments, writing, "No spoilers, but: Tonight's #TVD is one of my favorites of ALL TIME. Not shipper-related. Just absolute awesomeness-related."

Another reason this episode was heartbreaking?

Elena starts helping Stefan remember their past relationship together and talks about all their amazing memories. Then, just as Elena and Stefan are about to kiss, she tells him that she's actually dating his older brother, Damon.

For obvious reasons, Stefan is not happy with the Delena situation. He takes it out on Jesse at the graveyard party, The Huffington Post reports.

"My brother stole my girlfriend...and my girlfriend let him. So, you tell me, what's the point of being good?" Stefan says before ripping into Jesse's neck.

Hell hath no fury like a vampire scorned.

Catch "The Vampire Diaries" on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
