Nina Dobrev And Derek Hough Broke Up After Dating For Six Weeks! 'Vampire Diaries' Actress Still Figuring Out What She Really Wants In A Man

After her break-up with 'Vampire Diaries' co-star Ian Somerhalder, 24-year-old Nina Dobrev had a short-lived romance with professional dancer and 'Dancing with the Stars' choreographer Derek Hough. Hough, who happens to be the brother of Dobrev's best friend, reportedly dated the Canadian actress for 6 weeks. Even if the relationship was a brief one, the two appeared to be in good terms especially after Dobrev's response to her ex-beau's tweet.

"Creativity is a drug I cannot live without," says Hough in one of his posts. The 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' actress then re-posted the tweet on her own page and added a note: "Ditto! I guess not all addictions are bad :)."

According to a US Weekly report, the two parted ways because of the distance between them caused by their work commitments. Dobrev is constantly in Atlanta for the filming of her CW vampire series whereas Hough is based in Los Angeles. According to one source, the "distance was too much to handle" for the couple." Even if their relationship isn't successful, the source reveals that Dobrev remains friends with Hough's sister, Julianne: "Julianne understands - there are no hard feelings."

Many are likewise speculating that Dobrev isn't ready for a relationship yet. The 'Roommate' actress once said, "I've been a relationship girl and I've been in long-term relationships my whole life until this point. So I think I'm looking forward to spending some time with myself and finding myself again. I'm just discovering different sides of me and growing and then I'll figure out what I like in a man when I see it."

Dobrev remains single but her on-screen character, Elena Gilbert, is having great passionate moments with her on-screen boyfriend Damon Salvatore in the brand new Season 5 of 'The Vampire Diaries' which airs every Thursday night.
