Super Smash Bros. Wii U Roster To Add Xerneas After Sonic [PHOTO]? Will More Pokemon Join 17 Confirmed Characters So Far?

As fans await Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS, a mysterious image featuring Xerneas has fans theorizing on the next confirmed playable character to join the growing roster.

Recently, an image featuring Pikachu facing forward and Xerneas facing away from the frame has been uploaded to the official Super Smash Bros. website.

According to Screenrush, director Misahiro Sakurai uploaded this screenshot himself, and also posted it to the Super Smash Bros. Series community in Miiverse.

This has fans talking that in addition to the 17 confirmed characters in the Super Smash Bros. Wii U roster, Xerneas will be the next Pokemon to join Pikachu in the Nintendo series.

However, it is still unknown whether Xerneas will make an appearance as a playable character on the roster, or simply a background or assist character.

If the Super Smash Bros. Wii U roster does not include Pokemon Trainer, than the chances of Xerneas being a playable character will be very high.
