New Study Finds Diet And Depression Linked [VIDEO] Daily Pasta Eaters Have 41% Greater Risk Of Becoming Depressed [REPORT]

A new study finds diet and depression are linked. Eating white grains lke pasta are linked to depression as discovered in a new study where 43,000 women evaluated for 12 years. The women who ate white bread and pasta on a daily basis had a 29 to 41% greater chance of being depressed in comparison to women who ate healthier. The study suggests that diet and mood are significantly correlated and junk food, sugar, and processed meats might increase depression symptoms.

Not only were pasta and depression linked but white refined grains also were linked to inflammation in women. But good news; wine, olive oil, coffee, carrots, sweet potatoes, and leafy vegetables can reduce inflammation in women.

A Mediterranean-style diet heavy in olive oil as well as fish and vegetables has also been linked to lower rates of the inflammation and depression.

The study reinforces the hypothesis that a healthy diet has potential not only in the warding off of depression, but also in its prevention," scientist Anu Ruusunen said.

But the study coud be flawed due to the chance of variables in the women that the study had evaluated. For example, if a woman has a healthier diet she may also be on a higher socioeconimic class and therefore can have less stress, be overall happier with the quality of life, have better health care and not be as exposed to diseases and harmful conditions. Vice versa goes for a woman with a poor diet.

But it is impossible to have a study such as the pasta/depression link without some extronious variables.

It is a safe bet to assume that eating healthier makes you feel better, so you are less likely to get depressed. So eating right can never harm you; only give you a better chance of staying happy and healthy.

The worst food for depression are refined sugars, processed foods, hydrogenated oils, food high in sodium, and alcohol.

Caffeine disrupts sleep, making it more difficult to fall asleep and to stay asleep; those disturbances affect mood. It can cause agitation, tremors, and nervousness. Energy drinks, particularly, are bad news as some of them contain the caffeine equivalent of 14 cans of soda.

Artificial sweeteners such as Aspartame, nutrasweet and equal blocks the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin and causes mood dips, headaches, and insomnia. Using agave nectar is just as sweet as sugar and is completely natural so stick with that.
