Yuna Kim '70 Percent' Healthy After Injury, Considering Small Competition In December Before 2014 Sochi Olympics

South Korean Olympic figure skating champion Yuna Kim is ready to retake center...almost.

Yuna Kim, 23, was sidelined for 6 weeks with a metatarsal injury on her right foot, reports Eurosport.

"During training Kim Yuna felt a lot of pain in her right foot," says an official from the Korea Skating Union. "The diagnosis she received is that she would need around six weeks to recover and will also require physio after she returns."

Now, Yuna Kim is back on the ice and nearly back to full form.

"I am mostly pain free, and I can do all the triple jumps. For competitions, I will also have to build endurance. Overall, I think I am about 70 percent healthy," says Yuna Kim according to NBC.

"I am thinking about getting into a competition before the Sochi Olympics. I think I may pick a minor event in December."

Should Yuna Kim defend her Olympic title, she will be the first woman to do so since Katarina Witt in 1984 and 1988.

"The Sochi Games is not only my second Olympics but the 'retirement stage' for me, so I want to have a greater experience than any other competition before. In the past, I had strong concepts for short programs and lyrical ones for the long. But this time it's the other way around."

"I have a fast tempo for the long program this time, which requires more physical strength. I will have to modify it some before Sochi, but my goal is to make it perfect before the Olympics."

Right now, Yuna Kim's biggest rival Mao Asada is competing in the Grand Prix season leading up the Olympics, and has already scored over 200 points at Skate America.

"I am not a judge so I am not in a position to judge Asada's performance. I think since the Olympics is around the corner, not only Asada but also other figure skaters are training hard."
