Google Rumored To Be Working On A Smartwatch, To Enter Mass Production This Year

Google has been at the top of the tech world today, thanks to the huge success of its operating system. But it seems the company also aims to tap the wearable devices niche.  And it looks like we would get a glimpse of this Google smartwatch before the year ends.

In a report by WSJ, the Google smartwatch would allegedly begin mass production by the end of 2013, which means 2014 is the year when it will battle Samsung and Sony as the top brand in the wearable device niche.

According to the report, the billion-dollar company is working on the watch's battery endurance and usability in everyday life. Samsung's Galaxy Gear and Sony's SmartWatch both did a great job in expanding the niche, though they left out the most important part of the picture  - the gadget's dependability to tell time.

Aside from a longer battery life, Google is reportedly aiming to integrate the Google Now platform into the watch, enabling it to identify and accept voice commands.

There has not been an official statement coming from Google, but this smartwatch rumor is certainly a juicy one. If other top-tier manufacturers failed to deliver what the industry and consumers wanted, then Google may be able to do so.
