‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Movie Casting: Did Charlie Hunnam Drop Out As Christian Grey Because Of $125,000 Paycheck Snub? New Details Here

"Fifty Shades of Grey" movie casting had quite a shake-up after Charlie Hunnam dropped out as Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie. Did Charlie Hunnam drop out as Christian Grey because he was only offered a $125,000 paycheck?

Fans of "Fifty Shades of Grey" were shocked when Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the highly-coveted role in Hollywood as Christian Grey.

At an event in Burbank, California, Charlie Hunnam, 33, talked to E! News about his decision to leave the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie cast.

Hunnam, whose father reportedly passed away in May, said, "I have had some family stuff going on so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive."

But reports this month came out that another reason for Hunnam's exit was him feeling snubbed by a small paycheck offer.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hunnam was set to be paid only $125,000 for "Fifty Shades of Grey." By comparison, Robert Pattinson was reportedly paid $2 million for the first "Twilight" movie, The New York Daily News reports.

And once the vampire franchise became a global sensation, Pattison was paid a reported $12,500,000 plus 7.5 percent of the gross revenue for the final two "Twilight" installments, "Breaking Dawn: Parts 1 and 2."

This makes us wonder how much leading lady Dakota Johnson is getting paid...

Also, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Hunnam was getting peeved about his lack of creative control.

Taking his own initiative, Hunnam reportedly made several script revisions to "Fifty Shades of Grey," E! News reports. However, this created tension between him and director Sam Taylor-Johnson.

Universal Pictures said in a statement that the official reason for Hunnam's exit was over-commitment.

"The filmmakers of 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule, which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey," Universal Pictures said.

At the time, author E.L James tweeted, "I wish Charlie all the best."
