Moto X Phone Review, Specs: Flagship Handset Of Google-Owned Motorola Falls Short Of Expectation, Only 500,000 Sold Since Release

Moto X Phone reviews and specs both showed hopeful signs that the handset of Google-owned Motorola shows promising signs that it could gain traction and be one of the most wanted Android handsets around. Although tech reviewers has exalted the exceptional specs of the device, it seems that the Moto X has fallen short in terms of handsets sold.

According to the Wall Street Journal, only 500,000 Moto X units have been sold since it was released last August, citing report from Strategy Analytics, a market research firm. In a report by The Verge, it noted that the sales figures of the Moto X has sparked renewed handringing from tech writers over the value of Google purchasing Motorola. The Mountain View tech giant has been dependent on other manufacturers to produce its Nexus brand of devices.

It is important to note the the successful Nexus 4 was produced by LG, as well as its successor the Nexus 5. Asus was Google’s manufacturer of choice for its range of Nexus tablets.

On the other hand, the disappointing Moto X sales figures has sparked positive expectations for the upcoming Moto G which Google is expected to release today.

In what could possibly be an effort to revitalize and expand the amount of Moto X that could sell, Google is expanding the customization possibilities for the device, making it available to all U.S. carriers.

The “Made in U.S.A” tag for the Moto X didn’t seem to appeal to most Americans, nor did it add value, which makes it helpful point for discussion if it makes marketing sense to highlight if handsets are being manufactured in the country.
