NBA Trade [BREAKING NEWS]– Kenneth Faried For Iman Shumpert Will Happen; Desperate For Frontcourt Help, Knicks Trade Fan Favorite

Multiple reports have surfaced that the New York Knicks, who are desperate for frontcourt help, will send Iman Shumpert to the Denver Nuggets for Kenneth Faried.

The first to report was ESPN New York. Citing multiple sources close to the New York Knicks front office, the need for frontcourt help has led them to offer Iman Shumpert. With the return of J.R. Smith in the shooting guard starter position, the Knicks feel that they can cope with a backcourt of Smith and Beno Udrih and Tim Hardaway, Jr.

However, the trade has hit a snag. While the Denver Nuggets have not been very keen on keeping the "Manimal," they want to get the best value. Iman Shumpert might be a good player, but they could get more and the Knicks obviously have the more urgent need following Tyson Chandler's injury.  They want additional draft picks to go with Shumpert, something the Knicks are not prepared to offer.

Going into their 7th game, the Knicks are a paltry 2-4. It doesn't help that the Knicks owner guaranteed victory against the Atlanta Hawks. The pressure just mounted.

Iman Shumpert is the Knicks' best perimeter defender. He is a fan favorite because of his spirited play and his retro hairstyle. It is tough for the Knicks to give him up since he is one of the rare Knicks draftees in the lineup. However, he is the only trade asset the Knicks have aside from Carmelo Anthony.

Earlier in the season, the Denver Nuggets were rumored to be 'shopping' Kenneth Faried. The Nuggets denied this, and they were just 'gauging' the Manimal's trade value. The Nuggets reluctance to sign Faried to an extension also added fuel to the rumors.

The Nuggets have fired George Karl, whose free-flowing, fastbreak offense was ideal for Faried. Apparently, new coach Brian Shaw prefers a conventional post-up player, and Faried is not a building block for their future.

The chants of "Shump, Shump" at the Garden will be missed.
