Samsung Phone Market Share: Korean Manufacturer Still At The Top Of The Android World, HTC Looms Far Behind

The Android platform now dominates more than 80 percent of the market according to IDC, and more than 60 percent of it comes from Samsung devices. In a another report, the Samsung phone market share has kept its wide margin against other OEMs of the same platform.

According to the latest numbers from Localytics, Samsung now accounts for about 63 percent of the entire Android market. This is certainly not a surprise, considering the Korean manufacturer's strategy of releasing a flurry of Droids from the mass market up to the high-end level.

Meanwhile, the closest to Samsung's supremacy is HTC, with just a measly 6.5 percent share. But considering the Taiwanese company's recent failures, it would not seem impossible to see that market share drop in the next succeeding quarters.

LG, Sony and Motorola all come in closely with 5.9, 5.6 and 5 percent market shares respectively.
