Dallas has won four of its last five games vs the likes of the Bruins, Red Wings and Senators. Calgary has dropped four in a row, albeit against four really good teams in the Avalanche, Sharks, Blues and Wild. It allowed three goals at least in all four losses. Calgary isn't worried at all about its struggles.
"That's the beauty of the NHL, 82-game schedule," Flames coach Bob Hartley said Wednesday. "You can't sleep on good performances or bad performances too long. We have a new partner the next day and tomorrow we have Dallas, a team that is playing very well. There's no easy opponent in this conference."
Kari Lehtonen is having a great season for Dallas with a 2.01 GAA thus far. He is the number one goaltender whereas the Stars opponent is struggling to find the right man for the job.
"Obviously I've seen some great goaltenders with Timmy [Thomas] in Boston and followed up with Tuukks [Tuukka Rask] last year, and he's right up there, if not even better with his consistency," Seguin said of Lehtonen. "Every night, he's making huge saves for us. We rely a lot on him, but we've got to take some pressure off him."
All three of the goalies for the Flames have a GAA above 3 and no one has established themselves as "the guy" going forward.
With Dallas playing back-to-back games, Dan Ellis might get the nod at goaltender against the Flames. Ellis, 1-3-0 with a 3.60 goals-against average, hasn't played since a 5-2 loss at Los Angeles on Oct. 19.
