GTA 5 PC Release Date News: Launch Delay A Marketing Stunt? Speculation Suggests Release Held Back So Enough Knowledge Of Its Existence Is Known

Grand Theft Auto 5's PC version might be delayed as a marketing stunt, SocietyAndReligion.com reports, leaving many gamers wondering if it is being held back from launching to bring more attention to it.

"Video game manufacturers have been accused of causing the release date delays so as to build a greater expectation. It is believed to be a marketing stunt in which the product is only rumored to be coming for a season," the website writes.

"The idea is that by the time the product is officially launched, there will be enough knowledge of its existence. This scenario is expected to translate to great sales at the initial launch. In other words the marketing strategy feeds on people's curiosity."

New rumors point to a 2014 release date after evidence of an AMD Catalyst driver surfaced.

"The AMD Catalyst driver comes with support for GTA5.exe - this would suggest that a GTA 5 PC version is well in the works," the Latin Times writes.

"Rockstar hasn't commented on these rumors, but if previous GTA releases are anything to go by, its likely that the game will become available in 6-8 months."

Rockstar Games has released official Snapmatc Screensavers featuring user-taken photos of Grand Theft Auto 5, Kotaku reports, leaving gamers wondering if it will signal an early release of the game's PC version.

"This kind of makes me wish I had another PC on my desk, set up specifically slip into screensaver mode and endlessly flip through this gorgeous catalog of user-taken snapshots, curated by Rockstar to show off the gorgeous sights of Los Santos and Blaine Country. Sure beats flying toasters," the website writes.

The Snapmatc Screensaver is available for PC and Mac as a free download, the website also reports.
