The LG G2 vs. Nexus 5 review is a must read or see for anyone who is looking to buy one of the best smartphones to hit the consumer market in 2013. It’s a pretty tough call as they are both the crème de la crème with one of the biggest defining factors being that the Nexus 5 is cheaper than the LG G2 at $349 pounds while the LG G2 goes for $544 unlocked.

Pricing aside, there are many other factors to look at especially when it comes to the Specs. The best place to begin is usually with the dimensions. The LG G2 is just a tad larger than the Nexus 5. It is 138.5 by 70.9 by 8.9mm while the Nexus 5 is 137.9 by 69.2 by 8.6mm. In regards to weight, once again the LG G2 is heavier than the Nexus 5. It is 143g while the Nexus weighs in at 130g.

When it comes to the display, Know Your Mobile reports that both devices have 1080 by 1920 pixels. The difference however comes in due to the fact that the LG G2 has a larger screen of 5.2 inches while the Nexus 5 has 4.95 inches. This means that the Nexus 5 will actually have a higher ppi (Pixels Per Inch) pixel density than the LG G2 making it the winner in this round.

The next thing that Know Your Mobile looked at was the cameras. The LG G2 has 13MP while the Nexus has 8. Both the devices come with autofocusing capabilities and optimal image stabilization. They also both have an LED flash.

According to Know Your Mobile, when it comes to the storage capabilities, none of these smartphones has SD support. They both however come with either 16 or 32 GB of memory which is pretty okay today.

Once again when it comes to processing power we have a tie between both devices. Both devices are rocking a 2.3GHz snapdragon 800. This is backed with 2 Gigs of Ram and Adreno 330 GPU for graphics which is exactly the same in both devices.

Looking at the Operating systems, this might be yet another defining factor for the consumers albeit a small one. The LG G2 runs on Android 4.2.2 while the Nexus 5 will be coming with the new Android 4.4 KitKat. It is not too clear when or if the G2 can upgrade to KitKat but it is not impossible hence the statement “albeit a small one”.

Other than these specs, the LG G2 has a cool design and has put their buttons in an unorthodox location – right beside the camera. This may be appealing to some and a put-off to others but it is all a matter of personal preference.
