NBA Highlights [VIDEOS]: Andre Igoudala Hits A Classic Buzzer Beater! Phoenix Suns Demonstrate How To ‘Tank’ Games

A tale of two game winners highlight the NBA today. One is a classic—the last word in a gut wrenching shoot-out. The other answers the bizarre question of “how exactly do you lose games on purpose?”

Andre Iguodala hit as time expired to lift the Warriors to a nail-biting 116-115 victory negating a heroic three pointer by Russell Westbrook. These two teams were in gunslinger mode, and a sign of the dominant youth movement in the West. The Golden State Warriors are taking a gallant step up with a stronger line
In the report by the AP, Igoudala was quoted: "Those are the moments when your mind is just racing. When Klay (Thompson) threw the pass, I was thinking I could get to the basket. As soon as the ball hit my hands, my feet were set just to catch, turn around and shoot — something I worked on a lot throughout my career. The situation was there and everything just worked out."

Warriors coach Mark Jackson described the situation: "That last timeout, it was pretty dark in that huddle. You look up and you say, 'How did they climb all the way back? How?' You start beating yourself up. That's when you have a moment. They looked at each other and realized there is still time left and we can execute because we work on it every day."

There was another game-winner in the NBA. Damian Lillard literally breezed through the defense..or at least the defensive players of the Phoenix Suns.
To be fair, the Suns kept the game close and last year’s Rookie of the Year struggled from the field. Yet, with the game on the line, a defense that porous is unforgivable. But we are not under normal circumstances this year. Speaking to the Columbian, Lillard gave a practical answer:

“I mean, it’s one play. One play to win or lose the game. I came off it fast. I attacked hard and I picked the ball up and knew I was going to have to explode. That’s just what it was. When the game is on the line, you have to be able to step up. You have to take everything up a notch.”
Keep the games close, but let it go when it’s on the line. That’s how to get a losing record without losing all hope.
