Longest Basketball Shot [VIDEO: Watch It Here!] By Harlem Globetrotter Certified By Guiness On Annual World Records Day

Corey “Thunder” Law, a 6-3 guard who played for High Point University in North Carolina, didn’t quite make it to the pros.

He has joined the Harlem Globetrotters and will now join all the NBA greats like Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell in a book that the world takes interest in—the Guinness Book of World Records.

The previous record was held by Pepperdine University player Elan Buller which was set at 104 ft. and 7 in. (31.9m)
Thunder Law’s record was at 109 ft. and 9 in. (33.45m)

How did he do it?

There were three Globetrotters who attempted to break the record on November 14, which happens to be World Records Day. Law, along with , Anthony "Buckets" Blakes and "Slick" Willie Shaw were heaving the balls from the measured distance, which is actually behind the first row of seats.

After almost an hour, only Law came close, according to the Guiness World Records ‘adjudicator’ (that’s the official designation).
The video evidence is indisputable (and awesome). The record is certified and is now one for the books.

After officially becoming a Guinness Record Holder, Corey Law shared an interview at the official Harlem Globetrotters’ website.
Q: “What was your training or preparation?”
Law: “I just worked on a lot of flexibility, because I was preparing as if I was going to be shooting the shot for several hours straight, and I didn't want to pull any muscles.”

Q:”What was your strategy or approach to going for the record, when you stepped on court?”
Law: “Not a lot of strategy; I just wanted to hit the shot. I really look up to Buckets and Slick — my teammates that were shooting with me — and I thought I could earn some ‘cool points/respect’ if a rookie could break a world record.”

Q: “What was it like when you lined up to take that shot? What was going through your head?”
Law: “Ball, please go in, before my shoulder gives out!”

Q: “What world record will you attempt next?”
Law: “It might be fun to try the world's longest hook shot.”
