Beatles Grammy Awards: Prestigious Award Giving Body To Pay Tribute To John, Paul, George And Ringo 50 Years After Ed Sullivan Show Appearance

It was announced that the 2014 Grammy Awards would pay tribute to the Beatles on the 27th of January - one week after the 56th Grammys.

The tribute show will feature different artists performing favorite Beatles songs alongside unseen footage of the historical band.

This will also mark the band's 50th anniversary of their historical performance in the Ed Sullivan show. CBS Entertainment's executive vice-president of specials & events Jack Sussman said that this show will be remember the fab four's significant presentation on that show.

"That night 50 years ago on the Ed Sullivan stage, the Beatles delivered a momentous performance, and America witnessed a historic television event and the beginning of a new era in music," said Sussman.

"We are thrilled to honor these music legends with performances from amazing Grammy-winning artistes who were influenced by the Beatles' unforgettable music through the years and that incredible performance in 1964."

Beatles won a total of eight Grammy Awards, including a few three two decades after their break up in 1997 and a total of 25 nominations. The band won Best Music Video, Long Form for "The Beatles Anthology"; Best Music Video, Short Form for "Free As A Bird"; and Best Pop Performance for "Free As A Bird"

John, Paul, George and Ringo played on the Ed Sullivan show Feb. 9, 1964.

From the very popular speech of Sullivan before introducing the group: "Now yesterday and today our theater's been jammed with newspapermen and hundreds of photographers from all over the nation, and these veterans agreed with me that this city never has witnessed the excitement stirred by these youngsters from Liverpool who call themselves The Beatles. Now tonight, you're gonna twice be entertained by them. Right now, and again in the second half of our show. Ladies and gentlemen, The Beatles! Let's bring them on."
