Doctor Who Christmas Special 2013: Plot, Poster, Air Date, Trailer, Spoilers, And Featured Monster!

The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special has come and gone, and now fans are eagerly anticipating the 2013 Christmas Special!

Immediately following "The Day of the Doctor," a teaser trailer for the Christmas Special was released which dropped some spoilers and hints at what's to come.

Check out the "Doctor Who" Christmas Special 2013 teaser below:

In the brief teaser, we can spot four "Doctor Who" monsters: The Silence, the Weeping Angels, the Daleks, and the Cyberman. Does this mean all four will be featured in the Christmas Special?

Perhaps, but the Cyberman and the Silence will most likely be more prominent, as a recent "Doctor Who" Christmas Special 2013 poster showcased both villains along with Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman (Clara).

"Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe's deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them - the Doctor," says the official plot description according to Mashable.

"Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe."

One thing is clear. The Doctor will not be facing only one monster before his inevitable regeneration.

The biggest draw for the 2013 Christmas Special, of course, is that Matt Smith is scheduled to exit the series, and Peter Capaldi will take over as the new Doctor.

"It's been a long game," Moffat said to Doctor Who Magazine. "But most of the questions that people ask will be answered."

And appropriately, the air date for the "Doctor Who" Christmas Special 2013 will be December 25, and it is titled "The Time of the Doctor."

So, with some spoilers, a new poster, a teaser trailer, and an air date, be sure to tune in for one last hoorah for Matt Smith on the "Doctor Who" Christmas Special 2013.
