Benedict Cumberbatch Talks Girlfriend Troubles As Air New Zealand Unveils Smaug Plane For The Hobbit Premiere

Benedict Cumberbatch may be the star of "Sherlock" and "The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug," but the actor admits to having trouble finding love and a girlfriend due to fame.

'It is harder [meeting women] because people think they know more about you than they actually do," said Benedict Cumberbatch according to Metro. "And you can't control that... you can't control perceptions of you."

In case you're wondering, Benedict Cumberbatch does not have a girlfriend. He is single, after ending a relationship with fashion designer Anna Jones last year, and a 12-year relationship with actress Olivia Poulet before that.

In talking about his struggles in finding a proper girlfriend, Benedict Cumberbatch blames people's assumption of his posh-ness as a culprit.

"All the posh-baiting that goes on... it's so predictable, so domestic, so dumb. I'm an upper middle-class kid. I know that's counted as posh, but then I know people who I would call posh, and I don't talk like them."

Pretty soon, fans of Benedict Cumberbatch will hear his crooning voice in the upcoming film, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smuag" as none other than the nefarious dragon itself.

Most recently, Air New Zealand unveiled their plane with the design of Smaug on the side, the first image of what the dragon will look like in the movie.

And what does Benedict Cumberbatch look for in a girlfriend?

"A woman who knows that she doesn't have to get all decked out to look good is sexy," said Cumberbatch according to Entertainmentwise. "A woman who can make you feel smart with her conversation skills is also sexy. I believe the sense of humor is important."
