St. Louis is two points behind the Chicago Blackhawks for first place in the Central Division with playing four games less. The Blues have won six straight and have gone 9-1-1 in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Flames went four games straight with only scoring one goal total. From there, Calgary won 4-3, but then lost 0-6 on Tuesday.

David Backes played his second game after missing three with an upper-body injury, who scored his 17th goal of the season in the 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

"We've got things to work on but we are certainly trending in the right direction," Backes told ESPN.com. "We've done a lot of good things in these last six games. I didn't play for half of those and our best player, Alex Steen, has been out for a little while."

After the 4-3 victory, Flames coach, Bob Hartley, doesn't want to blame anything for being shutout 6-0 on Tuesday.

"We're part of a process where excuses will not be a part of it," Hartley ESPN.com. "They were better than us. We kind of fell apart after those two goals."

Injury report, according to NHL.com:

"Blues forward T.J. Oshie (knee) participated in practice Thursday and will play barring any setbacks. Defenseman Roman Polak (lower body) and forward Alexander Steen (concussion) remain on injured reserve ... Flames forward David Jones (infection-blurred vision) is day to day. Forwards Curtis Glencross (high ankle sprain) and Blair Jones (meniscal tear), and defenseman Kris Russell (MCL sprain) are on IR."
