Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: 5 Rumors About Samsung's Galaxy S5 Handset, Would It Be Worth The Wait?

As CES ended, we wondered where the upcoming Samsung phones for 2014 are. But then, considering that the Korean manufacturer announced only tablets, then we assume that its new handsets would make their way in the MWC event in Barcelona.

One of the sure bets for this year is the Galaxy S5, which would be the new flagship of the lineup which spans five years already. And apart from the naming, here are five rumors which surround the Android phone about its release and specs:

1. It will be announced during the MWC

A recent reports claims that the upcoming Galaxy S phone will first see the light of day during the MWC event in February. If that's the case, then you may also see the official release of the device by March or April this year.

2. Eye-scanning technology

Eye-scanners were once a part of the sci-fi genre, but now it is totally possible with the sheer advancements in technology. The Galaxy S5 is said to be among the first handsets to get this feature, which some say, is more secure than the Touch ID fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5s.

3. 2K Display from Sharp

For the first time in the history of the Galaxy S lineup, the upcoming flagship might not get Samsung's famous Super AMOLED display, or so the rumor says. According to reports, supplies may not be enough to compensate for the high demand of the product. As a result, Samsung reportedly tapped display-maker Sharp to supply the 2K screens for the device.

4. 64-Bit Processor and 4GB of RAM

While Samsung dismissed plans to 'replicate' Apple's 64-bit A7 chip, several rumors are claiming that it would actually embed a 64-bit processor to the Galaxy S5. In addition, there will also be 4GB of RAM, the highest RAM any mobile device can have today.

5. Plastic and Metal Versions

If the rumors are true, Samsung may be getting another page from Apple's book as it will allegedly release two versions of the device. The plastic version will be the usual launch, while a premium metal edition would be released for the high-end market, probably to match the price range of the upcoming iPhone 6.
