Woody Allen Skips Golden Globes 2014 For WHAT? Diane Keaton Accepts Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award For Him

Why wasn't Woody Allen at the Golden Globe Awards 2014? Katie Couric revealed on Twitter how Woody Allen chose to spend his Sunday night instead of going to the Golden Globes. Diane Keaton accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award on his behalf at the Golden Globes 2014.

Many fans were wondering where Woody Allen was on Sunday night, and why he didn't make it to the Golden Globes 2014 to pick up his lifetime achievement award. Katie Couric revealed Woody Allen's whereabouts on Twitter.

Katie Couric tweeted: "Where was Woody Allen tonight? He was at Beautiful across the aisle from me!"

Couric was referring to the Broadway musical "Beautiful," which opened Sunday night starring Jessie Mueller as Carole King.

Allen, 78, previously told The Los Angeles Times that he is "not an awards person."

"I find the whole thing silly," he said.

Singers Sara Bareilles and Phil Collins were also present at the musical's opening in New York.

On Allen's behalf, Diane Keaton accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award, the Golden Globes' lifetime achievement award. Allen originally was going to turn down the award, but was persuaded it would be good for his latest release "Blue Jasmine," Zap2it.com reports.

"I said if I don't have to watch it and I don't have to come to it, they can do anything they want," Allen told the LA Times.

Cate Blanchett won the Golden Globe for best actress in a drama for her performance in "Blue Jasmine."

The four-time Oscar and two-time Golden Globe winner's work was also introduced by Emma Stone.

"The experience of working on that film with Woody changed my life and that is no surprise. Woody's work has been changing the way we think about life, love and the pursuit of neuroses for decades," Stone said.
