Calgary has lost seven of eight games, five by shutout. The Flames hit the road for two games in two days with stops in Carolina on Monday followed by Nashville on Tuesday. They have lost five of their past six away from Scotiabank Saddledome, according to ESPN.com.

"We gotta score goals to win games. I think three is the magic number," Mike Cammalleri told ESPN.com. "I think three is the number -- we've talked about it before -- that usually wins in this league. If we scored three we would have won [Saturday]. I guess one is a start, but it's not good enough. We're gonna get together, go on the road and hopefully get going here."

In the loss to Pittsburgh, Calgary failed to convert on five power-play chances and dropped to 1 for 26 with the man advantage over their last eight.

"If we could have scored a couple power-play goals, we could have won the game. That was the difference," Backlund said. "We had a few power-play opportunities and we didn't score, and it's been like that for a while."

Hurricanes captain Eric Staal leads the team in assists with 25 and could be back on the ice Monday. He did practice with the team on Sunday.

"We're going to see how I respond after a good practice today and how I feel (Monday)," Staal told the team's official website. "I'm feeling good now, and it's getting better. It was smart to take a step back when I did."
