Sony Xperia Z2 Release Date: Rumored Flagship Expected To Be Announced At Mobile World Congress; Specs Will Incl. Snapdragon 805 Chipset

Sony Xperia Z2 release date: The rumored flagship is expected to be debuted by the Japanese tech giant this February at the Mobile World Congress. The event will take place in Barcelona, Spain beginning February 24 until the 27th.

According to an earlier rumor that the International Business Times reported, one of the key specs of this new flagship will be its Snapdragon 805 chipset. It is also expected to have 3GB of RAM and 20.7 megapixel Sony G lens with Android 4.4 KitKat. Battery power for the Sony Xperia Z2 is 3,500 mAh. The Sony Xperia Z2 may have a 5.2-inch display.

The Sony Xperia Z2 is dubbed Sirius, according to a tweet by infamous gadget leaker @evleaks. “Sony Sirius (2014 flagship) tipped for MWC debut: 5.2-inch display, MSM8974AB SoC, and a home on Verizon in the US,” says a tweet by EVLeaks.

Tech Radar noted, who said that the chipset of the device will be a Snapdragon 800 processor, says that the rumored specs of the Sony Xperia Z2 is a moderate upgrade from the Sony Xperia Z1.

Sony has already launched two new devices this year, with the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. The latter seems to be the highly-anticipated Sony Xperia Z1 Mini which a lot of tech publications have discussed late 2013.

There were earlier rumors that the new flagship will appear at the CES 2014, which wasn’t the case since the event came and left without an appearance of the rumored handset.
