‘Ant Man’ Movie Cast Rumors - Michael Douglas Joins Cast Of Ant Man! Who WIll He Play? Identity Of Ant Man Revealed!

Marvel has announced that "Ant Man" will get a boost from Michael Douglas, fresh from his Golden Globe victory.

Douglas won the "Best Supporting Actor In a TV Movie or Miniseries" for "Behind The Candelabra" (Winners list from CNN.com). He played the role of Liberace, the flamboyant pianist. The movie explored the relationship between Liberace and Scott Thorson (Matt Damon).

Now he moves on to another role. He goes back to the big screen in a big--or actually, tiny way. Variety magazine reports:

" After winning the Golden Globe Sunday for "Behind the Candelabra," Michael Douglas has found a high-profile new gig as scientist Hank Pym in Marvel's "Ant-man."

The revelation raised more questions though. It was believed that Paul Rudd was Ant Man and that Ant Man was Henry Pym. Thus, the idea of multiple Ant Men in the movie came about. Variety elaborates:

"People have been curious for sometime how Wright would handle the universe of "Ant-Man," since the superhero was portrayed in the comic books by both Pym and Scott Lang, whom Rudd will be playing. Pym was the scientist who originally created a chemical that allowed him to change his size and when he retired, he handled the title of "Ant-Man" to Lang.

Wright had already surprised by people by naming Rudd, who is better known for comedic roles than action roles, for the role of Lang, so it seems his version of "Ant-man" is going to be taken in a different direction than fans of the comic might be expecting."

Thus, Paul Rudd will play Scott Lang, not Henry Pym. Plot details have yet to be revealed but in the comics, Lang was a thief who stumbled upon the 'nano technology" that caused Pym to shrink. He used the technology for his own selfish and petty reason, but somehow, Lang was handed the mantle by Pym himself. It is not known if the movie will follow the exact timeline.

One good question is about Janet Van Dyne or "The Wasp."Van Dyne is Henry Pym's love interest, and as he became Ant Man, Van Dyne became used the technology to become a hero herself. Now that Pym will be much older, how will they portray "The Wasp?" Will she become Scott Lang's love interest?
