iPad Pro Rumors: No Retina Display, Laptop-Tablet Hybrid Design And More Powerful Chipset Coming To Apple's 12.9" Slate

For those of you who have been checking out iPad Pro rumors every now and then, you may already be expecting the rumored Apple slate to be the next 'big' thing, and that's on the literal side.

But as Samsung takes a step ahead of Apple with its recent 12.2-inch Android tablets, the ball goes back to the Cupertino company as it finds ways to provide more features for its upcoming device.

One of the more interesting rumors about the upcoming iPad is the departure of the Retina display, and replace it with 2K and 4K displays instead. While we don't have any confirmations yet whether this would happen or not, reports are pointing out that the Retina is slowly losing the screen resolution battle against top Android tablets in the market.

In a rather shocking rumor, the iPad Pro could also be boasting a laptop-tablet hybrid design which is similar to Microsoft's Surface devices. That only means one thing - the iPad Pro could be the replacement for the MacBook Air lineup.

Speaking of which, one thing we also expect from Apple's rumored tablet is a much stronger CPU and chipset. If it would in fact dethrone the MacBook Air as the ultraportable laptop, then it should at least match or even exceed the laptop's processing power.

As May 2014 draws near, we will see which of these iPad Pro rumors pan out to be true, and which ones were imagined just to be build up hype.
