Upcoming ZTE Phones 2014: Chinese Mobile Maker Launches Android-Powered Rugged Handset With Entry-Level Specs And Features

One of the most common reasons for smartphone problems is the phone's lack of protection from intense environments and unexpected incidents. ZTE aims to solve that problem as it includes a rugged handset into its upcoming ZTE phones for 2014.

Dubbed as the ZTE G601U, the Android-powered handset has recently been leaked by China's version of the FCC in the US. Weighing 156 grams with a screen size of just four inches, the ZTE phone is certainly on the heavy side.

However, its selling points include resistance against drops, and even sharp objects. There are no details yet whether it can also withstand water and dust.

Unfortunately, that's where the good points end as the ZTE G601U boasts entry-level specs. In the report by GSM Arena, the droid has a 4-inch WVGA screen, 1GB of RAM, a dual-core 1.3GHz chipset, a 5MP primary camera and VGA sensor for the front cam.

Meanwhile, other features include a 2,500mAh battery and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

There is no word yet how much it would cost, and whether it would be available outside of China.
