John Wall Underrated? Wizards Star Snubbed By Team USA, All-Star Voting; Will He Become Top Point Guard in The NBA?

John Wall has been given a maximum contract extension by the Washington Wizards. There were many critics of the move, and now Wall was not included in the 28 player national team pool, and he also was not voted into the All-Star Game. Is he actually underrated?

We know that he's not underpaid. For some players, that's all that matters. But John Wall was playing like he needs to prove something this season. His statistics are the best in his career at 20 points and 8.5 assists per game. (Basketball Reference.com) Those are much better than Dwyane Wade of Miami Heat's 18.9 points and 4.7 assists. Wade is definitely Lebron James sidekick, while John Wall is the Wizards franchise player.

While the All-Star starters are based on a fan vote which is very subjective, to say the least(throughout his career, Yao Ming was always the top vote-getter even when he was injured), Wall's non inclusion in the 28 player national pool released by Team USA is more of a puzzler.

The Team USA national pool is composed of 14 players who have previously donned the national colors and 14 possible first timers. John Wall is probably one of the best young players today, so his 'snub' was very controversial. What's more, his oft injured teammate Bradley Beal was chosen.

Beal, of course, was honored. Speaking to the Washington Post: "It's a blessing and an honor to be there, at such a young age, being a part of that team is being a part of history. I still have a lot of work to do. I'm fortunate to be invited to camp and hopefully, I'll be able to make the team." The former Florida shooter is only 20 years old.

The Washington Post reports that a logjam at the point guard spot caused Wall's non-inclusion. Kyrie Irving and Damian Lillard, the past two rookies of the year, was in that pool along with Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook. The Post reports: "Beal always had the better shot of earning an invitation, given the dearth of talent at shooting guard. Kobe Bryant is done representing the United States in international competitions. James Harden, Klay Thompson and Kyle Korver were the only guards to receive the invitation, according to other reports."
