Fantastic Four Reboot Movie Cast Rumors -Josh Gad As ‘The Thing’? Funnyman From ‘Frozen’ Responds With Hilarious Tweets!
Josh Gad joined the Disney franchise when it revived itself with "Frozen," their first animated hit this decade which does not have Pixar on it. Its success spilled on to its voice cast, the funnyman was rumored for a "bigger" opportunity.
Gad was reportedly testing for the role of Ben Grimm aka The Thing in the Fantastic Four reboot to be helmed by Josh Crank. Movies.com had the scoop on this one: "Hearing that Josh Gad is Fox's number one choice for the role of Ben Grimm (aka the ever-lovin', blue-eyed Thing) in the impending Josh Trank reboot of Fantastic Four is one of those "I never thought of that" bits of casting rumor that just feels right. "
Since The Thing would probably be computer generated when he transforms, the priority was the personality in his voice performance. Ben Grimm, despite his name and appearance, is one of the funniest and most lovable Marvel characters and it's possible that his humor can save the movie (compared to the drab and dismal Fantastic Four movies of the past decade). However, the excitement was abruptly curtailed when Josh Trank himself debunked the rumor via Twitter.

Josh Gad was a good sport, since he is probably not the source of the rumor. He has joked about other projects that he is busy with, and at the same time, it's his way of poking fun at the rumor mill. At first, he referred to Justice League characters from rival company DC Comics. Aquaman and Flash are rumored characters. He also tweets that he is preparing for his role as Luke Skywalker, which is presumed to make an appearance in Star Wars Episode VII. Finally, he settles on the obscure Marvel character, Squirrel Girl who has the awesome mutant ability to communicate and control squirrels aside from looking like a squirrel herself.
