iOS 8 Rumors: Concepts Suggested For Apple’s Next Mobile OS Incl. Change & Hide Default iOS Apps & Guest/Child Account

iOS 8 rumors: Concepts proposed for Apple’s successor of the iOS 7 includes update to its overall features. Tech experts, though unsure if the Cupertino tech giant will release another upgrade, provide some possibilities on what it could look like.

Apple’s latest mobile OS, the iOS 7, was called the “biggest change since the phone” by company CEO, Tim Cook. iOS 7 received a major design overhaul and included new features.

Consumer response on the iOS 7 wasn’t the best, but the company provided numerous updates as well and a host of fixes to keep improving the system. Tech blog TechRadar is already suggesting some new features for the possibly upcoming iOS 8.

TechRadar says that there are many things that it would like to see Apple change by the time iOS 8 rolls in 2014. The tech focus blog site cites 10 things they want to see, five of which we’ll feature below.

First, the tech experts are suggesting to have a “change and hide default iOS apps” feature on the upcoming iOS. They noted that they’d love to be able to choose non-Apple alternatives for handling email and browsing and maps.

Second, they’re suggesting a guest/child account. TechRadar suggests a single-tap child account or a guest account that doesn’t affect your personal settings and data, and equally does not retain settings or data of its own.

Third, the tech-focused site is hoping for better iOS app management for the upcoming iOS 8. Improvements on this end could include the App Store having trial and paid versions. It should also be child’s play to save and restore whenever an app is reinstalled.

Fourth suggested improvement is inter-app communications. The blog notes that one of the weakest elements of the iOS is inter-app communication. It notes that if a service bumps you to another app, you’re not always returned when you’ve finished performing an action.

Tech Radar also notes that when you make document edits across several apps, workflow can be a nightmare. This is specially for document copies in various states all over individual app sandboxes.

The fifth out of the ten suggestions Tech Radar hopes to see in the iOS 8 is better document management. They’re suggesting that iOS should introduce some kind of centralized access to documents. At the moment, Dropbox serves as the surrogate file system since iCloud is a bunch of silos. The lack of collaboration opportunities within iCloud document workflow is also an issue that Apple needs to resolve in the iOS 8.

If in case the Cupertino tech giant will release a new iOS, it most probably will be launched at WWDC 2014 this June.
