Sharknado 2 Baits Back Tara Reid For 'The Second One': July Release Date Set As Sharks Slaughter New York City!

For those of you wondering about a "Sharknado" sequel, "Sharknado 2: The Second One" has been confirmed with a summer release date.

"'Sharknado' was an extraordinary ‘perfect storm' which captured the attention of movie fans across the globe," says Syfy's executive vice president Thomas Vitale.

"You couldn't go anywhere without hearing about 'Sharknado!' By reassembling the creative team–and dropping sharks onto New York's iconic sites–we're unleashing yet another ‘fin' wave of shark-mania."

According to USA Today, both Tara Reid and Ian Ziering will return for "Sharknado 2: The Second One" as Fin and April.

Anthony Ferrante will once again direct based on a screenplay by Thunder Levin.

Allegedly, the story of "Sharknado 2: The Second One" will be about a freak weather storm (duh) which unleashes its toothy fury on New York City. And Fin and April will somehow save New York City, we're guessing.

Filming will reportedly begin on February 13 in New York, with a release date in July on Syfy.

"We're thrilled to be able to bring back the talent that made 'Sharknado' a hit. Can lightning strike twice?" asks Paul Bales from The Asylum, the company behind the Syfy hit.

"I don't know, but it's a scientific fact that you're more likely to be killed by lightning than by a shark. This film will have lightning and sharks, so that's got to count for something."

Stay tuned for updates on a release date for "Sharknado 2: The Second One."
